The movie is all about the hot guy, the popular friends, and all the back stabbing and lying that most girls in high school love to consume themselves with. When Cady Heron, played by Lindsey Lohan, went from being the weird, home-schooled white girl from Africa, to one of the “hot plastics” quickly after her arrival at North Shore High School, young girls, or at least the ones I knew, started to assume the only way to survive high was to be popular.So fetch. Growing up in the Coachella Valley, once the Coachella and Stagecoach lineup came out I knew that was all I was going to hear about until at least a month AFTER both festivals ended. What I didn’t completely realize was how big both events are. Going to school out of state I actually hear more about both festivals. Its kinda nice to know that for whatever reason, this boring place you’ve spent your whole life is a place that people pay ridiculous amounts of money to come to for these kinds of events – I love listening to people talk about Coachella and Stagecoach. The desert doesn’t have much to offer so hearing people talk about my hometown and seeing it in the news is something I find really exciting.
After reading some articles about Coachella, I found out a few things that I didn’t know about this year and the festivals as a whole. About 90,000 people of all ages flood my normally quite and mostly older people community both weekends the festival is around – that’s crazy. Somethings I’ve always loved about Coachella is it gives people the chance to express themselves in so many different ways than they normally do and this year, it went to a whole other level. Bright colors and tribal looking designs were a big thing this year – rainbow ornaments on peoples faces and in their hair was very “in” this year. The vibrant look that seemed to take over this year my have also had something to do with the fact that this was the first year the festival had a beauty sponsor. Stagecoach, more familiarly known to us locals as Ragecoach, just rapped up this past weekend. Several headliners from last year returned again this year which, in my opinion, made this year one for the books. Everyone to see was there. Stagecoach gets crazy though – its a lot of drunk rednecks and cow boys and girls who don’t like when you get in their way. Stagecoach also brings some of the worst drivers to the desert that I’ve ever seen, its actually kinda scary. Stagecoach also normal brings an older crowd than Coachella, however, younger age groups are becoming exponentially higher every year. Stagecoach isn’t as much my scene, but its still always a good time – sad I missed this year too.

I know that film is my ideal direction, but as long as I’m in the industry I will be happy doing anything. I was fortunate enough to take quite a few journalism classes in my time here so I have a great foundation to go off of as I continue my education into the media industry. Although this class did not particularly focus on film and television, I was still able to get an understanding in the way other forms of media work which I think will lead to a great success for me in the film side of the industry.So fetch.
